Casino - Circular style dancing as it is done in the heart of Cuba; these classes feature fluid movements and graceful arm techniques with interactive partnering. Son - This genre is a Cuban synthesis: Bantu percussion, melodic rhythm, and call-and-response singing, melding with the Spanish peasant’s guitar and language. The dance is one of beauty and grace. Where the Rumba is a game of chase, the beauty of the Son is demonstrated in the interaction between the leader and follower. Rumba - Rumba is said to be the musical voice of the Cuban people. Rumba is the complex of percussion driven dances that includes the Guaguancó, Yambú and Columbia. It is the form that best synthesizes the different African tendencies of Cuba. It has a little bit of everything, but it most strongly resembles the Congo dance Yuka. Merengue - The Dominican Republic’s national dance, Merengue is an easily learned club dance that will get you on the floor in no time! Bachata - A soulful Dominican dance with a passionate, sensual feel, Bachata is very popular in the clubs and makes a great addition to your dance repertoire. Cha cha chá - A fun Cuban dance related to Mambo, Cha cha chá has a characteristic syncopated triple step that will add flavor to your dancing skills. |
